The extended entry deadline was mainly due to the confusion caused by newspaper reports claiming that the race may be cancelled. The CMA has categorically denied these reports and has stated that the race will go ahead on 24 May starting at Pietermaritzburg City Hall and finishing at Sahara Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.
So far, there are 24 entries from Wingate Road Runners.
